Grok Bot by xAI

A Grok Bot that watches your mentions

Ask your Bot to add BuzzTake, then give it a routine. Every few minutes it reads your mentions, and when one needs an answer it shows you the reply on an approval card.

Grok Bot, sample run. A Grok Bot routine runs at 10:15. It searches X, finds a question about webhooks, drafts a reply and shows an approval card. The user selects Allow once, and the reply goes out at 8 credits.

What Grok Bot can do in your social accounts

A Grok Bot works on a cloud computer that stays on, and it reaches remote MCP servers from there. You add a server by asking for it in the chat with its URL; the tools are ready from your next message.

Routines run on a schedule, at least five minutes apart. A routine that searches your mentions and reads your notifications is cheap to run often, and the Bot only asks you when a mention needs a reply.

Approval cards offer Allow once, Always allow and Deny. Keep replies and posts on Allow once, so every answer that goes out has a person behind it.

It works on X, Mastodon, LinkedIn and Bluesky, and on every other platform BuzzTake connects. Each action is one tool, named as in the actions reference.

Jobs for Grok Bot

Say it in plain words. These are prompts that work, and the calls they make.

  1. Watch mentions during a launch

Every 15 minutes the Bot searches X for your product and reads the notifications. When someone asks a question, it drafts an answer and asks you.

Every 15 minutes today, search X for Acme Sync with BuzzTake. When someone asks a question, draft a reply and ask me before you send it.

    1 × search, 1 × reply12 credits ($0.12)

  2. A daily list of people to thank

Once a day it reads who quoted or reposted you and lists the posts worth a thank-you, with a draft for each.

Every day at 18:00, read my X notifications and list the people who quoted us today, with a thank-you draft for each.

    1 × read_notifications4 credits ($0.04)

  3. Keep a shared Bot for the team

On a shared Bot, a connected account always acts as the person the Bot is answering. Each teammate signs in to BuzzTake for themselves.

Read my LinkedIn notifications and tell me which comments are from customers.

    1 × read_notifications4 credits ($0.04)

  4. Post a status update

When you tell the Bot that an incident is over, it posts the update you approve to X and Mastodon.

Post to X and Mastodon: The sync delay is fixed and all queues are clear. Show me the text first.

    2 × post20 credits ($0.20)

Set up Grok Bot

A Bot adds MCP servers when you ask it in the chat. Personal Bots have no settings page; a shared Bot is edited from its name or the wrench at the top of the chat.

  1. Ask the Bot to add BuzzTake

Give it the URL. The tools are ready from your next message.

    Message
    Add the MCP server https://mcp.buzztake.com/mcp
  2. Sign in

The Bot opens the BuzzTake sign-in. Sign in, check the permissions and select Allow. The token stays on the Bot's backend, not on its computer.

  3. Give it a routine

Name the interval, what to read and when to ask you.

    Message
Every 15 minutes, search X for Acme Sync with BuzzTake. When someone asks a question, draft a reply and ask me before you send it.
  4. Answer the cards

Choose Allow once for each reply. A card that appears while you are away expires after 30 minutes, and nothing is sent.

Ways to connect Grok Bot

The routes that reach BuzzTake from Grok Bot, and how well each one fits.

Remote MCP, OAuth sign-inBest fit

The Bot registers itself with BuzzTake, with redirect addresses that BuzzTake accepts, and each person signs in with their own BuzzTake account.

Remote MCP, API keyDoes not work

A Bot has no documented way to keep a header secret for a custom server. Use the OAuth sign-in.

REST APINot tested

The Bot's cloud computer can run curl, but xAI does not say whether a secret reaches its shell. Not tested.

What it costs

BuzzTake charges in prepaid credits for the actions it runs. One credit is one US cent.

Credits for each job on this page
JobCreditsUSD
Watch mentions during a launch12$0.12
A daily list of people to thank4$0.04
Keep a shared Bot for the team4$0.04
Post a status update20$0.20

A post, a quote or a message is 10 credits, a reply 8, a like or a follow 3, and a read or a search 4. A planned post costs nothing until it goes out. Reads are charged when they succeed, and a write that fails before the page changes is refunded.

Grok Bot's model use is billed by xAI, not by BuzzTake. Every price is on the pricing page, and the rules are in Credits.

Approvals and safety

A person can approve before anything goes out, and every action is recorded.

Approval cards offer Allow once, Always allow and Deny. A card in a chat you are in does not expire; a card in the background expires after 30 minutes.

Keep Always allow for reads only. For a second person, plan posts as drafts in BuzzTake, where a reviewer approves them.

  • Ask for drafts when a person must check first. create_content puts the post on the calendar, submit_for_review sends it to a reviewer, and it goes out only after the approval.
  • Give the agent an API key without the content_publish permission. It can then plan drafts and send them for review, and it cannot post by itself.
  • BuzzTake records every action: who asked, through which key, on which account, what the page returned and what it cost.
  • A sign-in step that BuzzTake cannot finish, such as a 2FA code, becomes a challenge. The agent asks you for the code, or gives you a link to a live browser where you answer it.
  • Only an owner or an administrator can allow an OAuth client. Disconnect it under Developers in the app, and its token stops working.

Limits

  • Routines run at least five minutes apart. A Bot has up to 50 routines, 200 runs an hour per routine and 300 runs an hour in total.
  • xAI lists Grok Bot with X Premium, Super and Ultra, legacy paid Cursor individual accounts and Cursor Teams, linked SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, SuperGrok Heavy or X Premium+ accounts, and Grok Business seats.
  • An action tool waits up to 120 seconds for its result. A longer action comes back with its id, and get_action follows it to the end.
  • The MCP server runs up to 8 requests at a time for one key or sign-in. Above that it answers 429 with Retry-After, and the client tries again.
  • One organization connects up to 200 accounts.
  • The platforms set their own pace. When one asks an account to slow down, the action ends with rate_limited, and a write that failed before the page changed is refunded.

Troubleshooting

Every error code and its fix is in Errors and challenges.

The sign-in fails before the BuzzTake page
Tell us through feedback. BuzzTake accepts the Bot's cursor:// and localhost redirect addresses, so a failure here is a bug to report.
A routine did not reply
Its approval card expired after 30 minutes in the background. Answer the next card, or ask the Bot to list pending replies.
The client says the server refused the token (401)
The sign-in expired or was revoked, or the API key is wrong. Sign in again from the client, or make a new key under Developers.
An action stops at needs_input
The platform asked for a code. Give the code to the agent so it calls answer_challenge, or open the challenge's sign_in_url and answer in the live browser.
The answer is insufficient_credits
The balance is lower than the price, and nothing was queued. A post needs 10 credits. Top up, then ask again.
The answer is unsupported
The platform has no such action. The error lists the actions it has, and the generic browser action can do the rest step by step.
An account shows signed_out
Its session ended and no stored password could sign it in again. Ask the agent for a sign-in link with get_sign_in_link and open it, or reconnect the account in the app.

Grok Bot questions

Can a Grok Bot reply on X for me?
Yes. With BuzzTake added, a Bot can read your mentions and reply through your own X account. It asks you on an approval card first, unless you chose Always allow.
How often can a Bot check my mentions?
Routines run at least five minutes apart. A search is 4 credits, so a check every 15 minutes for a day is 96 searches, 384 credits.
Can my team share one Bot?
Yes, on a shared Bot for Cursor team members. Each person's connected BuzzTake account acts for that person only.
Can I use an API key with a Grok Bot?
No. A Bot signs in to custom MCP servers with OAuth, and BuzzTake supports it.
