Claude Code by Anthropic
Claude Code posts your release notes
Add one MCP server, and Claude Code can post the changelog to X and LinkedIn, answer people who report bugs, and plan launch week from the repo it already reads.
- Connects through
- Remote MCP, OAuth sign-in
- Add it with
claude mcp add- Shared config
.mcp.jsonin the repo- Asks before
- Each tool you have not allowed
What Claude Code can do in your social accounts
Claude Code reads your repository: the changelog, the merged pull requests, the docs. With BuzzTake it can also act in your social accounts, so the post about a release comes from the code that shipped and not from memory.
Each BuzzTake action is an MCP tool. Claude Code calls post with the text, the media and the account, and gets back the link to the live post. It calls search and read_notifications to find people who talk about your project, and reply to answer them.
Claude Code asks for your permission before it calls a tool, unless you allowed that tool before. A post goes out only after you say yes, and you can keep publishing tools on ask while reads run freely.
It works on X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Mastodon and Reddit, and on every other platform BuzzTake connects. Each action is one tool, named as in the actions reference.
Jobs for Claude Code
Say it in plain words. These are prompts that work, and the calls they make.
Post the release notes after a tag
Claude Code reads the changelog section for the new version, writes one post per platform in that platform's length, shows you both, and posts them.
Read the v2.4.0 section of CHANGELOG.md. Write a post for X and one for LinkedIn, show me both, then post them from the Acme accounts.
2 × post20 credits ($0.20)Answer bug reports on X
It searches X for your project's name, finds the posts that report a bug, checks the cause in the code and drafts an answer for each. You send the ones you like.
Search X for acme-cli posts from the last day. For each bug report, find the cause in this repo and draft a reply. Send none until I say which.
1 × search, 3 × reply28 credits ($0.28)Turn a merged pull request into a thread
It reads the diff and the description of the pull request and posts a short thread that explains the change. A thread is one
postwith athreadlist.Write a 4-post X thread about PR #812 from its diff and description, and post it.
1 × post10 credits ($0.10)Plan launch week for approval
It plans one post a day on three platforms as drafts on the BuzzTake calendar and sends them for review. Nothing goes out until a reviewer approves.
From docs/launch.md, plan one post a day next week on X, LinkedIn and Bluesky as drafts, and submit them for review.
15 × create_content10 credits for each draft that goes outUpdate every profile after a rename
After a rename it changes the display name, the bio and the website on each account in one go.
We renamed acme-cli to Acme Sync. Update the display name, bio and website on our X, Bluesky and Mastodon accounts.
3 × update_profile30 credits ($0.30)
Set up Claude Code
Run one command, then sign in to BuzzTake in the browser. Claude Code keeps the token and renews it.
Add the server
Add
--scope userto have BuzzTake in every project, or--scope projectto write it to.mcp.jsonfor the whole team. Without a scope it is for you, in this project only.Terminal claude mcp add --transport http buzztake https://mcp.buzztake.com/mcpSign in
Start
claude, run/mcp, pick buzztake and choose to authenticate. BuzzTake opens in your browser: sign in, check the app name and the permissions, and select Allow.Check the connection
claude mcp listshows buzztake as connected. In a session,/mcplists its tools.Terminal claude mcp listAsk for something small
Start with a read, which changes nothing and costs 4 credits.
Prompt List my BuzzTake accounts, then read the latest 10 notifications on X.
Ways to connect Claude Code
The routes that reach BuzzTake from Claude Code, and how well each one fits.
- Remote MCP, OAuth sign-inBest fit
The URL alone. Claude Code registers itself with BuzzTake, opens the sign-in and renews the token.
- Remote MCP, API keyWorks
For CI and shared machines, where nobody can sign in through a browser. Make a key under Developers and keep it in an environment variable.
Terminal claude mcp add --transport http buzztake https://mcp.buzztake.com/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer $BUZZTAKE_API_KEY"- Remote MCP, OAuth sign-inWorks
A project file shares the server with everyone who opens the repo. Each person signs in for themselves.
.mcp.json { "mcpServers": { "buzztake": { "url": "https://mcp.buzztake.com/mcp", "type": "http" } } }- REST APIWorks
Claude Code can run curl in its shell, after a permission prompt. MCP gives it the tool schemas, so use it first.
POST /v1/accounts/{id}/actions curl https://api.buzztake.com/v1/accounts/$ACCOUNT_ID/actions \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $BUZZTAKE_API_KEY" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{"type": "post", "text": "Version 2.4 is out.", "wait": 60}'
What it costs
BuzzTake charges in prepaid credits for the actions it runs. One credit is one US cent.
| Job | Credits | USD |
|---|---|---|
| Post the release notes after a tag | 20 | $0.20 |
| Answer bug reports on X | 28 | $0.28 |
| Turn a merged pull request into a thread | 10 | $0.10 |
| Plan launch week for approval | 10 per post | $0.10 per post |
| Update every profile after a rename | 30 | $0.30 |
A post, a quote or a message is 10 credits, a reply 8, a like or a follow 3, and a read or a search 4. A planned post costs nothing until it goes out. Reads are charged when they succeed, and a write that fails before the page changes is refunded.
Claude Code's model use is billed by Anthropic, not by BuzzTake. Every price is on the pricing page, and the rules are in Credits.
Approvals and safety
A person can approve before anything goes out, and every action is recorded.
Claude Code asks before each MCP tool call until you allow the tool. Allow the reads, such as mcp__buzztake__read_notifications, and keep mcp__buzztake__post and mcp__buzztake__reply on ask, so every post waits for your yes.
In a headless run, --allowedTools names the only tools the run may call. A release job that may post needs mcp__buzztake__post and nothing else.
- Ask for drafts when a person must check first.
create_contentputs the post on the calendar,submit_for_reviewsends it to a reviewer, and it goes out only after the approval. - Give the agent an API key without the
content_publishpermission. It can then plan drafts and send them for review, and it cannot post by itself. - BuzzTake records every action: who asked, through which key, on which account, what the page returned and what it cost.
- A sign-in step that BuzzTake cannot finish, such as a 2FA code, becomes a challenge. The agent asks you for the code, or gives you a link to a live browser where you answer it.
- Only an owner or an administrator can allow an OAuth client. Disconnect it under Developers in the app, and its token stops working.
More in Approvals and Reports and audit.
Limits
- Claude Code warns when one tool result passes 10,000 tokens and stops at 25,000 by default. A long feed read fits under it; ask for a smaller
limit, or raiseMAX_MCP_OUTPUT_TOKENS. - An action tool waits up to 120 seconds for its result. A longer action comes back with its id, and
get_actionfollows it to the end. - The MCP server runs up to 8 requests at a time for one key or sign-in. Above that it answers 429 with
Retry-After, and the client tries again. - One organization connects up to 200 accounts.
- The platforms set their own pace. When one asks an account to slow down, the action ends with
rate_limited, and a write that failed before the page changed is refunded.
Troubleshooting
Every error code and its fix is in Errors and challenges.
/mcpshows buzztake as failed- Run
claude mcp listto see the error. A 401 means the sign-in is missing: pick buzztake in/mcpand authenticate again. - The tools do not show in a new project
- The server was added with the default scope, which is one project only. Add it again with
--scope user. - The client says the server refused the token (401)
- The sign-in expired or was revoked, or the API key is wrong. Sign in again from the client, or make a new key under Developers.
- An action stops at
needs_input - The platform asked for a code. Give the code to the agent so it calls
answer_challenge, or open the challenge'ssign_in_urland answer in the live browser. - The answer is
insufficient_credits - The balance is lower than the price, and nothing was queued. A post needs 10 credits. Top up, then ask again.
- The answer is
unsupported - The platform has no such action. The error lists the actions it has, and the generic
browseraction can do the rest step by step. - An account shows
signed_out - Its session ended and no stored password could sign it in again. Ask the agent for a sign-in link with
get_sign_in_linkand open it, or reconnect the account in the app.
Claude Code questions
- Can Claude Code post to social media?
- Yes. With the BuzzTake MCP server, Claude Code posts, replies, likes, follows and sends direct messages through your own accounts on X, LinkedIn, Instagram and nine other platforms.
- Does Claude Code need an X or LinkedIn API key?
- No. BuzzTake signs in to your accounts the way a person does, so there is no developer app and no platform API key. Claude Code signs in to BuzzTake only.
- Can Claude Code post from CI after a release?
- Yes. Add the server with an API key in a header, run Claude Code headless with the post tool allowed, and it posts the release notes when the job runs.
- What does a release post cost?
- A post is 10 credits, which is ten US cents. Posting the same release to X and LinkedIn is two posts, 20 credits. Claude Code's own model use is billed by Anthropic.
